Police have launched a major search for three men who allegedly stormed into a home in Sydney’s west and shot a 26-year-old man in the leg.
Emergency services were called to a home on Stafford Street in Penrith about 11.45pm yesterday.
9News understands there was an altercation before the 26-year-old man was shot.
The three men were captured on CCTV at nearby Darby Street as they ran through homes and down the street.
“We believe that we actually intercepted them trying to get back to their SUV and as a result, they’ve run away on foot,” NSW Police detective superintendent Trent King said.
“The information in relation to description is scant, except to say they’re three larger males in dark clothing.”
Police worked into the early hours of this morning trying to locate the men but they were unable to be found.
A major crime scene has been established at the complex of townhouses.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the men to come forward.
