Still Turning Still Burning

2 July @ 2:00 pm - 30 July @ 12:00 pm

Free

Still Turning, Still Burning is a journey through Australia’s past and present, exploring the enduring spirit, struggles, and resilience of its First Peoples. Through a series of fifteen panels, I aim to acknowledge the deep pain caused by dispossession, while also celebrating the strength, connection, and hope that continue to burn brightly within Aboriginal communities today.

This exhibition draws inspiration from key moments in Australian history — from the powerful image of Gough Whitlam returning land to Vincent Lingiari, to the unrelenting call for justice heard in Midnight Oil’s Beds Are Burning. Each panel is layered with stories of resistance, respect, and renewal, offering viewers a visual and emotional experience of the long and ongoing journey toward recognition, reconciliation, and healing.

My intention is not only to reflect on the past but also to inspire a sense of unity and optimism for the future. I invite viewers to engage with these works openly — to feel the weight of history, to recognize the courage of those who continue to fight for their rightful place, and to reflect on how we can walk forward together, with understanding and shared purpose.

I hope that by moving through this exhibition, you will feel the pulse of a country still turning, still burning — not with anger alone, but with hope, respect, and a deep longing for a more inclusive and truthful Australia.
