Stars in Disguise Singing and Transformation Competition
Get ready Sydney — Stars in Disguise is the ultimate live singing competition where everyday people are transformed into famous music icons and perform as them on stage — launching 29 May 2025 at the Unity Hotel in Balmain.
This is not just a singing contest. It’s a full transformation show, where contestants work with a professional team to mimic a famous singer in every way — from voice and stage presence to hair, makeup, and costume. By showtime, they don’t just sing like the star, they look and perform like them.
Running across six live heats, followed by a semi-final and grand final, this exciting event will showcase some of Sydney’s most talented and entertaining performers — all competing for a $3,000 cash prize and the title of Sydney’s best transformed star.
How it works:
Contestants from all walks of life — including pub singers, karaoke favourites, musical theatre performers, and hidden talents — audition to take part. During auditions, they work with our creative team to choose a famous singer to impersonate, from icons like Adele, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga, and Freddie Mercury to today’s chart-toppers.
On show day, we work behind the scenes to bring their transformation to life:
• Hair and wigs styled to match their star
• Professional makeup to complete the look
• Iconic costumes and outfits
• Coaching on how to mimic the artist’s movements and style
By the time they walk on stage, contestants are fully transformed and ready to wow the judges and crowd.
Judging and audience choice:
Each contestant performs live in front of a panel of judges, scoring them on vocal ability, likeness, stage presence, and entertainment value. Plus, the audience gets a say — every heat includes an Audience Choice Award, giving fans a chance to vote and help contestants move to the semi-finals.
